Authenticity | In Practice
This Masterclass by RuPaul not only brought many insights but the personal development journey and learnings Ru went through and shared, beyond resonated with my own.
I could 100% relate to the elements she shared, even though our life experiences were drastically different. Playing small, second-guessing, and realizing your true worth and authentic self translates across all.
One of the things she stressed was we all have our own frequency and it is up to ourselves to find it…and then ultimately share it with the world. In finding your frequency and the energy of your truest authentic self, we are more able to unleash the magic that makes each one of us…well, us!
This also starts to provide clarity on understanding what our values and virtues are, what is serving us and what isn’t, and what are we doing on this planet. It is up to us to hone this connection to who we are, foster it, and move freely through this life sharing it with others and giving back.
One of the homework assignments in the workbook was to really evaluate what no longer serves us, which tends to be so many internal beliefs we have acquired along the way.
Working through this assignment and my own personal development journey outside of TMYD, I’ve been able to uncover a bulk of those faulty internal belief structures were actually tied to others’ opinions, critiques, and judgments that truly didn’t encompass who I was.
Somehow, they attached to my own belief structure and carried on in day-to-day life showing up in the forms of self-doubt, second-guessing, and imposter syndrome (just to name a few). This impacted my ability to show up at times as my most authentic and empowered self and had me playing small when I should have been playing big.
Realizing this now, it is apparent the time has come to release these faulty belief structures that no longer serve me, so I can fully step into those that do. Allowing me to be more unapologetically me and navigating through this world with Authenticity, Spirited Moxie, and Humble Fierceness!
Letting go of the fear and being fear optimized is another takeaway I got from Ru’s class and from putting these things into action in my everyday life. The thoughts of…what might others think, what if I fail, will I be overly judged or criticized when I bring my truest self..has ultimately given way to a new way of thinking and a new perspective.
We will make mistakes, failure will happen, and fear won’t be fully eliminated, so how can we be the most optimized navigating through those waters?
Something Ru shared was that failure allows you to find the places you didn’t know existed and failure just means you had an expectation and didn’t reach it. I can’t help but to stop and think about the journey of growth and learning in that. When you view it from that lens, it doesn’t seem so catastrophic and doom’s day-esque as it did before. What if my expectation weren’t realistic, to begin with? And if that is the case, then why did I make such a big deal about it. #deepthoughts Girl, let that go!
At the end of the day, you are the only you! It is time to make that move and what the world needs now is….YOU!
A message I picked up from Ru with this class was don’t allow the moment or opportunity to pass because I was holding onto something no longer serving me, which then caused my light to dull.
The time is now, the person is you, and everyone has been waiting!
Don’t worry about anyone else and go rock it, Girl!
You’re gonna slay!
